Description:

This tablature is for the song Looks That Kill by Motley Crue. In this tab I give you tips and special instructions on learning to play this song exactly how Motley Crue plays it and correctly.

Notes:

Was recorded in the key of G minor but actually played in the A minor position. This is because they tuned down a whole step to 420 so that A becomes G, E becomes D etc. I learned and play the song without tuning my guitar down but it's totally optional d

Motley Crue - Looks That Kill
Tablature Created By Devon Akins

TAB INTRODUCTION
----------
As you can see, this tablature is set up differently than other tabs you may
be used to seeing. My goal was to deliver a better way of making tabs for
guitar players. I didn't want to just show you the tabs for you to learn on
your own. I also wanted to make it look better, easier to interpret, and also
many more features. I give you the measure/verse title and information about
it, some tips that I thought were useful while learning the song myself, and
important notes attached to each one that gives important info on laying the
song correctly if you've never heard it because it's kind of hard to remember
every little detail about the song like how many time you need to play a
certain verse, when to repeat it, etc. So I hope you learn a lot and you like
my style in making tabs. Thanks, and please send me feedback if you have time.
----------

VERSE 1
----------
The song starts out with this verse 10 times. Use your 1st finger and your
3rd finger for the chords and slide down between the change in notes evenly
and back to loop this 10 times. Practice this over and over until you can
play this part from memory and without hesitation. Once you feel comfortable,
move onto the next verse.

E|--------------------------------------------------- -----------------------|
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NOTE: When you finish the chorus verse you repeat back to this verse         +
(Verse 1) and after you finish the chorus again you repeat back to this      +
verse again but on the third repeat, you play this verse only twice then     +
you jump into the bridge verse.                                              +
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

VERSE 2
----------
This next verse leads into the chorus. It's identical to the first verse
except that it ends on an F chord that and uses the tremolo bar to lower and
raise the tone a half step in time with the beat of the song. I usually just
bend the strings with my fingers and I do just that for this song. Looks
cooler too :P So practice the 1st verse and this verse together until your
comfortable to continue.

CHORUS
----------
In this verse, the second measure is repeated. It starts with a C with an E
root that goes to an F chord. Then it uses the chords C with an E root, F, F#
diminished, C and F. Then open A note is used as a pedal tone.

twice then it continues to the bridge.                                       +

BRIDGE
----------
There are many ways to play the bridge. Here is one that I found to be the
best version and the way I play it. This seemed close to the way Mick Mars
played it live.

lead into the solo.                                                          +

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

SOLO
----------
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Introduction:                                                                +
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Finaly here it is, the solo but don't rush in to it. Make sure you have the  +
rest of the song down by memory and can play through it without hesitation   +
and smoothly. Now as you practice through the solo, play each part separately+
first and memorize each part until you can play each by memory and soon the  +
whole solo by memory and without hesitation. This solo uses the pentatonic   +
blues scale in the key of A minor. Here is the solo split up into 6 parts so +
you can concentrate on small chunks instead of the whole thing at once.      +

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

SOLO 1/6
----------
Here is the first part of the solo that you'll move into after playing
through the first part of the song and following everything before the solo
starts. When you finish repeating verse 1 for the very last time before the
solo you move into playing the 4th string and sliding down to the 7th fret
and continue through the solo. Use your 2nd finger to slide on the first note
so you can use your 1st finger to easily switch to the next note.

G|------5--4--7--5------------ ----------------------------------------------|
D|--/7------------------------ ----------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------- ----------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------- ----------------------------------------------|
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
TIPS: You want to be pretty fast and smooth when starting the solo and on the+
next part your really gonna need to get down your hammer-ons and pull-offs   +
down now unless you've already mastered them because it will not only help   +
you out in playing guitar but will also build your finger strength and fret  +
hand.                                                                        +

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

SOLO 2/6
----------
Now you'll be looking at the second piece of the solo and you'll want to
work on this one a little more because of the hammer-ons and pull-offs you'll
need to master in order to master this part down perfectly. It's not hard but
a little tricky if your not used to it.

SOLO 3/6
----------
Once the first part is finished you'll move into this part right after it.
In this part of the solo it's good to make use of over bending while sliding
to the next note to make it more exciting. Also notice the pinch harmonics so
dont miss those.

SOLO 6/6
----------
Heres the final bit of the solo. When mastering also practice the whole song
with the solo to get everything down by memory and again without hesitation
and smoothly.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NOTE: Once the solo is finished it repeats back at verse 1 and like before   +
play 10 time and through verse 2 again and slows down with chorus verse and  +
ends with verse 1 while slowly coming to the end of the song.                +
